Another (additional) option - OK for a small number of cameras - is to use the 'mini-NVR' facilities within each camera and set up the QNAP as a 'NAS destination' in the storage menu. You should be able to manually define the camera configuration in SS as another Hikvision 2-series model, ignore the 'model mismatch' warning, and it should work OK. But you need to configure the motion detection settings via the camera web GUI. But you should be able to find the plans if you submit a HelpDesk ticket to ask the question: In the meantime - basic motion detection should work OK under ONVIF, as the Hikvision cameras do generate ONVIF 'event notifications', not just for motion but for the 'smarty events' too, though SS ignores these. I suspect as Hikvision is the world's #1 manufacturer of surveillance systems, and already well supported on Surveillance Station, QNAP will be adding these models soon. That's a fairly new (Chinese market only) camera.
